You don’t have to be old to suffer from a back pain. Even though elderly and middle-aged people are more prone to this type of pain, young people can also feel its symptoms. They include back pain, hip pain, difficulty sleeping, reduced flexibility of the spine, etc.

The main causes of a backache are poor sitting posture, muscle tension, lack of physical activity, improper diet, excessive physical labor, arthritis, and pregnancy.

According to the research, over 80% of Americans will suffer some type of back pain during their life time.  One half of all working Americans report having back aches each year. Information about back pain relief can be located in a number of places, including medical websites and information portals. The ability to find natural back pain relief remedies however is a bit more difficult.

Here are some natural remedies that can help you get rid of your back pain:

Apply ice

If your pain is caused by an injury or a sudden movement, consider applying ice to the affected area. This will help to reduce muscular swelling. After the first 48-hours, start applying heat. You will want to make sure you rest on a firm surface, such as a hard bed or even the floor.

Serotonin and endorphins are the body’s natural mood lifters and painkillers, and one way to increase these levels is through massage. By working at a molecular level, massage therapy regulates the genes commonly associated with inflammation inside the body and may lessen back pain. Some massage therapists are equipped to work in a patient’s home, and many offer massage chairs for those instances where lying on a padded table might be too uncomfortable or painful.

Cherry juice

This juice eases muscle pain and relieves inflammation associated with fibromyalgia, arthritis and heart disease. In a study, runners drinking 100% Montmorency cherry juice before and during exercise reported less muscle pain than athletes drinking another fruit juice.

Ginger has long been used as a culinary spice and as a natural remedy for relieving nausea and motion sickness. Ginger has recently been found to relieve joint and muscle pain as well. University of Georgia researchers found that taking two grams of ginger daily can reduce pain caused by exercise or other physical activity by as much as 25%. Ginger works naturally as an anti-inflammatory and is reported to be as effective in relieving the pain of arthritis as ibuprofen or aspirin without the dangerous side effects.

Wintergreen essential oil

This essential oil is made up of 85 to 99 percent methyl salicyclate. This is the same ingredient that is inside of Aspirin. That is why it is a great choice for people who are looking for a natural pain reliever.

Epsom salt soak

Epsom salt contains magnesium sulfate which sounds kind of scary, but it’s really quite a wonderful substance. A naturally occurring mineral, magnesium sulfate has been used to get relief from pain for years, namely because of its high levels of magnesium.

Acupuncture is one of the best remedies for pervasive back pains. It targets specific pain centers and works to relieve pain from those areas and the surrounding locations.

Bananas are incredibly healthy and delicious. They are among the most popular and nutritious health foods you can eat on earth. They are high in fiber and antioxidants. In particular, the nutrients found in bananas have been found to improve digestions and heart health.

But despite being a highly nutritious fruit, bananas have a reputation for being high in calories and carbs.1 medium sized banana contains about 105 calories and is made up of mostly water and carbs. To be exact, about 90% of the calories in banana comes from carbs, which equals to 27g of carbs in one medium banana.

Even though banana is a moderately high calorie fruit, bananas contain several important nutrients that are beneficial to your health.

Some of its amazing benefits are:

Kidney cancer

Banana is rich in Antioxidants like Vitamin C, E and beta-carotene that prevents damage of cell from free radicals.

In research, it was found that people eating a banana daily had less risk to get kidney cancer.

Reverses signs of ageing

The antioxidants in bananas helps fight stress and neutralize the free radicals in the body to reverse the signs of ageing. It also maintains proper health of the skin by rejuvenating the skin cells.

Bananas can act as mood enhancers or mild sedatives

Bananas contain tryptophan (although it’s not one of the major sources, a medium still contains about 10.6 mg of tryptophan). Tryptophan is one of the 20 amino acids which are building blocks of proteins. Tryptophan helps the body to produce serotonin – which has a calming effect on the brain (creates a stable mood) and acts as a mild sedative. It should be noted that the only way our our body gets its dose of tryptophan is through our diet – it does not produce tryptophan naturally. Bananas are one of the easiest ways to get it.

 Good for athletic performance

Bananas contain carbohydrates, which are broken down into glucose, the body’s main source of fuel. Eating carbohydrates prior to physical activity may help increase endurance.  Potassium is lost through sweat, and this decrease in potassium is linked to muscle cramps. Eating a banana during and/or after physical activity will replace lost potassium and restore carbohydrate stores. Remember, it is important to maintain hydration and replace other electrolyte levels as well.

Stronger Bones

Bananas are one of the best fruits for guaranteeing strong, healthy bones throughout your life. One of the best reasons for this is the presence of fructooligosaccharide, which is a prebiotic and eventually a probiotic, beneficial bacteria in our digestive tract that boosts the intake of minerals and nutrients by the body. Specifically, bananas are linked to increased absorption of calcium. Some bananas also possess short-chain fatty acids, which humans cannot absorb, but the organism that live in our stomach lining can consume those fatty acids, which increases their ability to absorb minerals like calcium. Calcium is the most important element in the production and regrowth of bone matter in the body, thereby reducing the chances of osteoporosis and natural weakness commonly linked to aging.

If you’re bothered by drooping eyelids and sagging, wrinkled skin around your eyes, both injections and restorative surgical options can help make your eyes look more youthful.

As you age, your skin gradually loses its elasticity and begins to droop all over, but the effect is most obvious on your face — especially around the eyes.

The condition you are experiencing is called ptosis, which refers to drooping of an upper eyelid of one or both eyes. It can be present at birth or develop later in life due to ageing, injury or as an after-effect of eye surgery. Ptosis (droopy eyelids) is a common condition among the elderly, though it can also be a birth defect or a result of an eye injury or disease. In case of inborn ptosis, the eyes appear droopy due to poor development of the eyelid muscles regulating the proper opening of the eyes. Ptosis can affect one eye or both eyes, and is often asymmetrical, meaning, each eye droops differently.

Ptosis isn’t just giving your face a tired appearance. It can come with vision complications, such as astigmatism, obstruction of visual axis, a chin-up head position, and amblyopia (lazy eye).

Ptosis can occur if the muscles or ligaments that normally raise the eyelid are weakened, whether by injury or ageing. As a person gets older, the skin and muscles of the eyelids naturally stretch and become weaker. Those who have undergone eye surgery might experience this change faster than others because the surgery itself can stretch the eyelid.

The severity of the condition ranges from a barely noticeable droop to the lid covering the entire pupil, which can affect ability to see, as well as appearance.

Here are some of the best natural remedies that can help you get rid of your droopy eyelids:

The secret ingredient behind the miraculous treatment is one egg.

People have been using eggs in their natural remedies for ages and they can truly help you improve your appearance.

Here’s how to treat your droopy eyelids naturally:

  • Remove the makeup from your face, clean it thoroughly and dry it well.
  • Remove the yolk from one egg since you’re only going to need the egg white. Apply the egg white directly on your eyelids with a cotton swab. Don’t let the egg white enter your eyes. Leave the egg white on until it dries. Wash your face with lukewarm water and dry it with a towel.
  • Use the remedy every day and you’ll see amazing results in just 2-3 days.

Perform  eye exercises

Forcing the use of the affected eye and eyelid muscles for a few minutes each hour can help build the muscle’s tolerance and improve your ptosis, according to the National Stroke Association. Try moving your eyes in figure-eight movements or rolling your eyes to make a full rotation. Keep in mind, in order for the eye exercises to work, you have to do the exercises for a few minutes every hour while you’re awake. This means, you can’t simply roll your eyes one or two times and consider yourself done. To ensure you complete the exercises properly, try exercising your eyes during a commercial break or set a timer to keep track of the length of time.

Pores are the small dots or tiny openings visible in the surface area of your skin. Pores helps to keep your skin moisturized and supple by providing it with oil, which is present in a gland that is found at the bottom of the pore. The gland is called sebaceous gland or the oil gland.

Open or enlarged pores are one of the most common beauty problems, especially in people with oily skin. They are unsightly and can make you look dull and aged. Tighter and smaller pores reflect light better, making the skin look younger and healthier.

Here are some of the best remedies that will help you shrink your pores:

Aloe Vera

Use aloe gel straight as a facial mask. It’s a natural astringent and its emollient properties will help cleanse and reduce pore size as well as moisturize your skin. Squeeze the gel from one or two leaves and rub it gently with your fingers across your face. Leave it on for about 15 minutes, just until it dries, and then rinse well with cool water and pat your face dry. You will notice a difference in your pore size and your skin will feel soft and smooth.

Sugar is an excellent exfoliating agent that helps unclogged your skin. Crush two tablespoons of sugar. Add water and the juice of half a lemon. Smear the paste on skin with clogged pores. Massage it gently in a circular motion for about five minutes. Wash it off with cool water and moisturize. Do this regimen once a week for clear pores.

Honey and yogurt

While yogurt passes lactic acid to skin and contributes in exfoliating and cleansing dead skin cells from skin, honey being rich in potassium properties aids in neutralizing the presence of bacteria from the skin pores. Thus, this mask help cleaning clogged pores and tightening skin tone, leaving your skin softer, smoother and reduced pores.

Mix enough amount of yoghurt and honey to form a smooth face pack and apply all over your face and neck. Wash off the face pack once it dries completely with plain water.

Egg white

The egg white can help to dry the skin from greasiness. When there is less oil then the pores get reduced. The debris and impurities do not stick to the skin and your skin feels free and fresh. Whites of eggs unclog the pores and lighten the tone of your skin.

Butter milk

Butter milk is a folk remedy for tightening enlarged pores. Besides lightening your skin tone, regular application of butter milk on skin will considerably tighten open pores. The astringent substances contained in butter milk do the trick.

Dip clean cotton in butter milk and gently rub it all over your facial skin. Rinse off with plain water after half an hour. Butter milk can also be mixed with table salt. Wait until the salt gets completely dissolved in buttermilk. Rub this solution over skin and rinse off using warm water.

Clay mask

This clay mask should be applied once a week and should be prepared a day in advance. In this way, the clay can make your pores breath better and remove dirt and grease from them. It will also help absorb excess oil. It reduces enlarged pores because it cleans them.

A painful headache can leave you down for the count. Between the tension and the throbbing, it’s hard to imagine being productive at work or accomplishing tasks at home.
Perhaps one of the many reasons headaches are so widely misunderstood and mistreated is that there are many types of headaches. Tension headaches are among the most common types of headaches. They are also commonly known as chronic daily headaches and are believed to be caused by muscle tension and contraction. Another common and severe type of headache is known as a migraine. Other types of headache include sinus headaches, which are generally characterized by deep pain in the forehead, cheekbones, or bridge of the nose, acute headacheshormone headaches, and chronic progressive headaches (also known as inflammatory headaches).
According to the World Health Organization, approximately 47 percent of adults suffered from a headache last year. So what’s the best thing to do when the pain strikes? While over-the-counter medications can help, there are some natural ways to ease your pain. A nutritious, balanced diet can help prevent and alleviate headaches.

Here are some of the amazing natural remedies that will help you get rid of your headache:

When we drink alcohol, we begin to pull water from every inch of our body in order to help our liver flush out the toxin. If we aren’t drinking water in addition to our booze consumption, our body sucks up whatever water it can find, so we tend to become dehydrated much faster, and therefore develop a splitting headache. One of the quickest solutions to this problem is not only making sure to drink a glass of water here and there as you continue to drink, but also gulping down a few glasses at the first sight of head throbbing.

Warm compress

Apply a heating pad to the back of your neck, temples, or directly to your forehead.

A warm compress of any kind can work, whether it is a hot rag, water bottle, or even a heated corn sack. Anything with heat works because it increases blood flow, reduces inflammation, widens/dilates blood vessels, reduces muscles spasms, and changes the body’s reaction to pain.

Essential oils for headaches

Roman Chamomile: As an effective anti-inflammatory, Roman Chamomile acts as a muscle relaxant.

Lavender: When infused into the blood stream, Lavender acts as a natural pain reliever.

Clary Sage: Good for hyper tension, Clary Sage slows down the heart rate. This is turn lowers blood pressure and prevents any build up of tension.

Pour six to eight drops of essential oil into a hot bath. Soak for 20 minutes.

Rosemary tea with thyme or sage

Beginning your day with a cup of rosemary tea is definitely a good option to beat that throbbing pain.

Rosemary has anti-inflammatory properties that will alleviate pain .Sage has antibiotic and antioxidant properties, whereas thyme has antiviral, antifungal, and antibiotic properties .Not only will you feel refreshed and hydrated, but you will also find the headache has either vanished or greatly reduced.

Insomnia is, perhaps, the most complained about sleep disorder that leads to fatigue, tension, stress, headaches, depression, irritability, poor performance, and other such issues. While the acute variation lasts for a day or two, there are people who are victims of chronic sleep disorder that arises from health conditions. Stress and lifestyle. There do exists medications that could induce sleep, but you end up depending on those the entire lifetime. Instead of that addiction, you can now try some simple home remedies for insomnia that are proven to deliver results.

Here are some of them:

Exercising makes your body tired. Hence, you sleep better at night. You can always go for a jog or walk in the nearest park to make you tired.

Yoga relieves stress, which may help you to sleep better at night. There are many yoga routines available to help promote a relaxed a better nap.

Honey is an affluent source of L-tryptophan, the amino acid that is the precursor to the sleep inducing hormone melatonin. The insulin spike rendered by honey stimulates tryptophan, which in turn ensures that serotonin is transformed into melatonin. The result – as darkness starts prevailing, your body signals it is bedtime. Mix 1 tsp of honey in a cup for warm milk for better results.

Herbal teas

A warm cup of herbal bedtime tea is one of the most efficient ways of dealing with insomnia, and most sleep experts will always recommend it. But, not every herb is ideal for sleep because those that have caffeine will only make your insomnia worse.

You should always go for those that are decaffeinated and make the tea without excess sugar because sweeteners are bad for sleep. Also, it is important to know that there are some particular kinds of herbs that have been proven to be very useful for dealing with insomnia. Valerian root tea tops most lists, and this is because of its ability to reduce the time that it takes to fall asleep and also improve the quality of your sleep. Others like kava, which induces relaxation, and chamomile that has anti-inflammatory and calming effects also make a helpful herbal bedtime tea.

Banana is the model sedative fruit. It has the right sets of nutrients to promote sleep. These nutrients range from B vitamins to magnesium and even tryptophan.

The tryptophan content of banana can encourage sleep through the increased secretion of serotonin and melatonin (as described above).

In addition, the high potassium and magnesium content of banana can also calm neuronal activity in the brain even better than calcium. Magnesium has been shown to act at calcium channels of nerves to reduce electrical conduction.

Furthermore, these minerals do also have muscle relaxant effects. Therefore, they can help relieve muscle disorders (such as periodic limb movement) that can disturb sleep.

Milk has a sleep-inducing property that’s why children are given milk before going to bed. The same is true if an insomniac would drink milk before doing to bed. One may add honey to sweeten the taste. Milk can also be to massage the foot of the patient to help him relax and invite sleep. This is one of the simplest insomnia treatments.

Ginger is among the healthiest (and most delicious) spices on the planet.

It is loaded with nutrients and bioactive compounds that have powerful benefits for your body and brain.

Ginger has been shown to be effective against exercise-induced muscle pain.

In one study, consuming 2 grams of ginger per day, for 11 days, significantly reduced muscle pain in people performing elbow exercises.

Ginger does not have an immediate impact, but may be effective at reducing the day-to-day progression of muscle pain. These effects are believed to be mediated by the anti-inflammatory properties.

Ginger is a great ideal for treating cold and flu-like symptoms. This spice can make your body warmer and reduce the cold symptoms. I always keep some fresh ginger in a fridge in case I got a cold suddenly. Ginger also gets on well with lemon, honey, and mint leaves. And here the way I usually make a ginger honey drink when I got a cold.

All you need is 2 gram of fresh ginger and honey. You can press or chop ginger into small pieces. But with me, I prefer pressing ginger more than cutting it into small pieces. By pressing ginger we can take more water and nutrient from ginger than cutting. After that, you can put pressed ginger or cut ginger into a cup with 1 or 2 tsp. of honey. Depend on your taste, you can put more or reduce the honey. Pour 150-200 ml of fresh boiling water over it. Wait for 5 -7 minutes you can enjoy your ginger honey tea.

But consuming ginger may have its side effects:

Side effects of ginger include:

  • increased bleeding tendency
  • abdominal discomfort
  • cardiac arrhythmias (if overdosed)
  • central nervous system depression (if overdosed)
  • dermatitis (with topical use)
  • diarrhea
  • heartburn
  • mouth or throat irritation.

  • Ginger may lower blood sugar levels. Using significant amounts of Ginger may result in a need to adjust diabetes medication. These medications include chlorpropamide (Diabinese), glimepiride (Amaryl), glipizide (Glucotrol), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), tolbutamide (Orinase), and others.

  • Ginger may interfere with blood clotting and prolong bleeding time like Chamomile. There is a risk of serious bleeding if a person takes blood-thinning medications such as warfarin or medicine which can reduce the level of platelets (blood cells that help the blood to clot) or interfere with platelet function. So do not take ginger if you have the bleeding disorder or using blood-thinning medication and even aspirin. Make sure to tell your doctor if you are taking ginger before surgery or being placed under anesthesia for any reason.

  • Don’t use ginger with children under 2-year-olds. Children over 2 may take ginger to treat nausea, stomach cramping, and headaches. But you should ask your doctor to help you find the right dose for the children.

  • The use of ginger during pregnancy is hotly debated among doctors and researchers. Ginger’s reputation as a natural anti-nauseant makes it an appealing choice for expectant mothers who experience morning sickness, and MedlinePlus reports that taking ginger doesn’t seem to affect the rate of fetal malformations. Ginger’s anti-coagulant properties, however, can increase the risk of bleeding, making it riskier as you near your due date. Never take ginger during pregnancy without speaking with your doctor first.

This little fruit is taking the foodie scene by storm. Smaller than your regular strawberry variety and quite a bit more delicate as well, they are truly a special and unique berry. It’s the unusual color combination that immediately draws you in, white flesh with red seeds, followed by the aroma and taste that can be only described as pineapple-esque.

The Pineberry is bred from a wild strawberry that is believed to originate from South America where it naturally grew wild, but rough times nearly lead the fine specimen to extinction in 2003. But as fate would have it, a group of Dutch farmers banded together to save the plant and help to nourish it back to commercial cultivation. The soft flesh and reverse strawberry scheme with unique taste are the highlights of this berry. Delicate and perishable due to its natural build up this berry must be handled with the utmost care. Don’t forget to enjoy and watch as the heads turn when the aroma of pineberries fills the air!

A pineberry is known in nomenclature as, Fragaria x ananassa. It is a traditionally created cross between two distinctly different types of strawberries a.k.a. a hybrid, which will never reproduce true from seed. Perhaps on a rare occasion, but don’t ever count on it. Growing pineberries from seed will give you an assorted lot. The majority of your seedlings will be U.S. native Fragaria  virginiana, and the Chilean strawberry, Fragaria chiloensis.Pineberry is a hybrid of two different Strawberry varieties – Fragaria chiloensis, originating in South America, and Fragaria virginiana, originating in North America. Pineberries are smaller than common strawberries and they turn white when fully ripe, with red seeds inside. The fragrant flesh of the fruit can vary from soft white to orange color and as mentioned in the message, the Pineberries have slight pineapple flavor.

You may have heard of the oregano herb, especially if you enjoy pizza and pasta. Oregano is a Mediterranean herb that is a common feature on Italian dishes. Uses mostly in its dry form, it adds a kick to meals.

But oregano doesn’t just excite our taste buds. Its leaves are rich in compounds that are biological active, and which bring with them benefits to us humans. They contain the likes of cymene, terpinene, and thymol, all of which bring with them useful benefits.

Oregano is also rich in oleanolic and ursolic acids, which improve our cell physiology.

The strong antibacterial, antiviral and anti fungal properties come from a naturally occurring, active ingredient in oregano oil called Carvacrol. This powerful ingredient offers a wide range of health benefits and is said to be just as effective as antibiotics but without any of the undesirable side effects.

It’s important to go for a good quality oil , with a 65%-85% carvacrol content, but also remember that it is very potent, and much too strong to apply or ingest without being considerably diluted. Don’t be tempted to think that the extra strength will be a good thing, as it will be an irritant. Mix it well with either olive oil, coconut oil or in a small glass of water and use carefully, it will then have the pleasant aromatic flavour of oregano so familiar in Italian food.

Effective against candida and yeast infections

When combined with probiotics and an anti-candida diet. A healthy way to treat these complaints and assist the body to correct it’s natural balance without drugs.

Use to treat toenail fungus and athletes foot

When mixed with a little coconut oil and applied directly (twice daily) to affected areas. A great natural alternative to the many ineffective remedies for this annoying condition.

Source of essential nutrients

Oregano oil is most essential to those who struggle everyday to balance their meals in order to get the right nutrients all the time. Oregano oil is filled with vital minerals like magnesium and zinc and vitamins C and E. In order to use it as a source of essential nutrients, regular use of the oil is necessary.

Digestive aid

The digestive tract is one of the most essential parts of our body. Without the digestive system working properly, we will not be well for long. Without proper digestion, food will begin to disintegrate in the digestive tract. Oregano oil is renowned to slow down food decay because of its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic and anti-oxidant abilities.

If you suffer from allergies, whether seasonal or year round, opt for some oregano as part of your allergy-fighting routine. Oregano oil sedates the hypersensitivity to stimuli – which is what allergies are – to offer relief from allergy symptoms.

Oregano oil works to promote the secretion of digestive juices and helps boost nutrient absorption, meaning you’ll get more out of the foods you eat to promote good health.

Dilute in your favorite carrier oil or lotion and apply to the chest area.  For nasal congestion, try adding one or two drops of oregano essential oil on a clean handkerchief and inhale the vapor
