When our bodies become “toxic,” it means that our natural means of ushering out metabolic waste from normal human metabolism, environmental pollution, and what has become known as the Standard American Diet (or SAD diet – funny, right!) have exceeded the threshold for what the body’s innate detoxification system can tolerate on its own. With this toxic load, every system in the human body can become affected. From our head to our toes and everything in between, toxicity makes us sick!
How do you know if you are toxic and need to properly cleanse?
Usually a constellation of complaints helps you determine whether or not you are toxic and to what extent you need to cleanse. Some examples of what might infer a toxic system are:
- Persistent headaches, muscle aches and muscle fatigue
- Eating a lot of swordfish, tuna, shark etc.
- Several mercury fillings and dental amalgams
- Food allergies
- Stubborn weight loss
- Hormonal imbalances and consistent use of hormone replacement treatments such as birth control or creams like progesterone.
- Consistent use of NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen
- Skin abnormalities such as acne, rosacea or eczema
- A lifetime of consuming the SAD Diet
Here is what you can do to cleanse your body:
Drink Plenty of Water
This is one tip that you’re probably sick of hearing again and again, but it’s only because it’s so important to so many vital organs, and it helps to keep your body well-flushed of toxins. It also helps your body better eliminate feces, which contain plenty of toxins in it. By helping to keep your bowels and digestive system well-lubricated you are effectively helping your body rid itself of plenty of toxins each time you go to the bathroom. Have a Daily Detoxifying Tea
There are plenty of teas out there that offer different cleansing benefits, with the most common one being green tea. But if you get bored easily you can always switch it up with different herbal teas that have detox properties. There are different ones available depending on what you’re after.
Strictly speaking, the liver is not one of the organs of elimination, though it does filter and remove large amounts of toxic matter such as dead cells, microorganisms, chemicals, drugs and particulate debris from the blood stream.
If you look after your organs of elimination, it helps ensure that the liver functions to best effect. If you cut out alcohol or only drink a little, your liver will be happier.
You can use burdock root, dandelion root, milk thistle, beets, Jerusalem artichokes, garlic, turmeric or curcumin, fermented foods, and castor oil packs on the abdomen.
To detox the kidneys, fruit is necessary. Consume all sorts of fruit and naturally made fruit juices (including berries). You can also add ginger, turmeric, parsley, kale, and pumpkin seeds to your diet to increase kidney health.
These herbs and plants are especially beneficial for removing parasites out of the body – wormwood, black walnut shell, cloves, as well as cinnamon, garlic, coconut oil, psyllium husks, bentonite clay and coffee enemas. For the last one, make sure to use organic coffee and distilled water. Complete sterility is also a must. During the treatment, lie on your right side and hold for 10-20 minutes.
