Your nails speak of your style, they are like jewels which you can design with nail art and flaunt them off by wearing beautiful nail paints. Nails are made up of a protein called keratin.  You may have noticed that your toe nails grow faster than your hand nails. This happens due several factors like lack of nutrients in the body, hormonal changes, stress or due to use of certain medications.

Slow and poor nail growth can be accompanied by breakage, splitting, brittle nails and other nail problems. You can promote nail growth by maintaining a healthy diet and following a proper nail care to keep your nails strong.

There is nothing worse than breaking a nail. The only thing you can do is wait until it grows out again so that you can get the manicure re-done. Fortunately for you, you can quicken the growing process by using this nail soak.

For this DIY nail growth recipe you will need a few ingredients that you probably have at home. The items you will need include: an orange, olive oil, and a clove of garlic. You can also substitute the orange for orange juice, and the garlic clove for pre-minced garlic.

Garlic

Garlic is known for its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties and it thus protects nails from infections. Although garlic does not promote nail growth, it helps to maintain nails healthy and strong. Cut a garlic clove in two halves and rub the cloves all over your finger nails. Let the garlic juice get absorbed before washing hands. Alternatively make paste of garlic and apply the paste on the nails and leave it for 5 minutes. Follow this remedy once a week to get smooth nails.

Olive oil

Olive oil is an amazing moisturizer, able to penetrate deeply into skin. Because of this, it also helps to soften the cuticles and adds strength to the nail to prevent breakage.

How to prepare this DIY soak:

Combine the orange juice and garlic in a shallow container. Place fingertips in the mixture and soak them for 10 minutes. Rinse your hands and discard the garlic and orange juice solution. Fill the bowl with one quarter cup of olive oil. Soak nails in the oil for 5 minutes.

The nail soak can be done two or more times a week and will also benefit cuticles and skin. It’s one of the most basic things that you can do at home to both achieve and maintain stronger, healthier, beautiful looking hands and nails.

Lemon and sea salt soak

If you have discoloration on your nails from too many acrylics, or stains caused by dark nail polish, a combination of sea salt and lemon juice can help. Squeeze the juice of one lemon into a bowl, and add about a teaspoon and a half of sea salt. Soak your nails for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse. Repeat three or four times a week until your nails look lighter – a couple weeks should do the trick.

Garlic is a vegetable and is a species of the onion genus. Garlic is often used to add flavor to recipes and dishes. Garlic is an essential ingredient of most cuisine from all across the world. Taste is the first reason why it is so popular. However, garlic can also be used as a medicine to prevent or treat a wide range of aliments and diseases.

Garlic cloves contain many vital nutrients including vitamins, amino acids, and enzymes. Garlic contains sulfur compounds from the amino acid allicin, which is most noted for producing garlic’s powerful odor.

Garlic acts as a natural antibiotic. It is able to eliminate harmful bacteria but does not kill off healthy bacteria as chemical antibiotics do. Garlic’s allicin is also responsible for destroying fungi. Many use garlic as a means of eliminating fungal infections.  A study found that garlic is effective at preventing and treating the common cold. It found that those who consumed garlic had significantly fewer colds and the length of their cold was shortened compared to those who did not eat garlic.

Honey, particularly in its raw form, also offers an extensive range of surprising benefits. This sweet nectar has long-been valued as a natural sweetener, long before sugar became widely available in the 16th century.

Today, while the average American consumes only one pound of honey each year, they consume more than 150 pounds of refined sugar on top of another 62 pounds of high fructose corn syrup per year. But research shows that decreasing or eliminating refined sugars, and using a moderate amount of pure raw honey instead can offer incredible benefits to our health and general well-being – not to mention the beauty benefits it can provide too.

  • Honey gives you energy
  • Honey boosts your memory
  • Honey assists in weight loss
  • Honey increases athletic performance
  • Honey strengthens your immune system

Garlic and honey home remedy can be prepared this way:

Ingredients:

  • 3 heads of garlic, peeled and separated into cloves (about 24 cloves)

  • raw honey to fill your glass jar of choice (raw honey is more nutritious than store-bought honey)

Finley chop the garlic and mix it with the honey. You must consume this medicine on an empty stomach every morning.

You can also try the garlic fly tonic. What you will need is:

  • Half a yellow onion, roughly chopped
  • 5 cloves of garlic, roughly chopped
  • 2 red chili peppers, roughly chopped
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of ginger, roughly chopped
  • Juice of one lemon
  • Apple cider vinegar, organic, unfiltered and raw

Put the chopped onion in the bottom of a 500 ml Mason jar. Add the garlic as a second layer and the red chili peppers as third. Then carefully layer some chopped ginger. Squeeze you lemon into a separate bowl, discard the seeds and pour the juice next. Top off mason jar with apple cider vinegar, leaving about a cm of room at the top.

Store the jar in a dark and cool place and consume frequently or until all the symptoms you have disappear.

Garlic is an herb widely used as a flavoring in cooking. It has also been used as a medicine throughout ancient and modern history to prevent and treat a wide range of conditions and diseases.  The good news for garlic lovers is that it not only tastes great but it is really good for you too. There is historical evidence that garlic has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years.

Many of the therapeutic benefits of garlic come from a powerful chemical compound known as allicin which is also responsible for garlic’s unique fragrance.
When we eat garlic or garlic extract, allicin enters your body via the digestive system and is then transported throughout the body where it gets to work in numerous beneficial ways.

Researchers now believe it involves the “allicin release,” thus dubbed because allicin is not present in a whole garlic clove. It’s only created when the garlic is crushed.

It’s this decomposition of the garlic that produces the acid that reacts immediately to neutralize free radicals. The reaction is faster than that of any other antioxidant.

Derek Pratt led the study published in 2009 in the international chemistry journal, Angewandte Chemie. He explains, “If Allicin was indeed responsible for this [antioxidant] activity in garlic, we wanted to find out how it worked. No one has ever seen compounds, natural or synthetic, react this quickly as antioxidants.”

Garlic has amazing properties:

Treats Hair Loss

A head full of hair that smells like garlic could help in the treatment of hair loss. The herb’s extremely high sulfur content contains keratin; the protein hair is made of. This stimulates fortification and growth. A 2007 study published in the Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venerology and Leprology found the use of a garlic gel added to the therapeutic efficacy of topical betamethasone valerate for alopecia areata treatment can be effective to induce hair re-growth.

Minerals And Vitamins

Garlic is loaded with minerals and vitamins like manganese, selenium, vitamins C and B6 and fibre. Other than these, it also has traces of potassium, phosphorus, iron, calcium, copper and vitamin B1.

Boost Immune System

Garlic is surprisingly a good source of vitamins C, B6, selenium minerals and manganese all of which help boost the immune system. It also enhances mineral absorption in the body. However, garlic has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties that strengthen the body’s defense mechanism and fights infections.

Blood Pressure

Several studies have demonstrated that garlic extract can significantly lower blood pressure in people suffering from hypertension.

One study published in 2013 actually showed that that garlic extract taken at doses ranging from 600 to 1500 mg was equally as effective as a commonly prescribed blood pressure medication called Atenolol.

The doses used in these experiments were fairly high and in order to get the equivalent amount of allicin from fresh garlic, you would have to consume at least 4 cloves of garlic each day.

Prevents The Formation Of Blood Clots

Garlic has a compound called ajoene. Ajoene has anti-clotting properties that help in preventing blood clots. Thus, regular consumption of garlic may prevent blood clotting and also keep you safe from risks of clotting post surgeries and cardiovascular diseases.

While raw garlic has antiseptic, antifungal, antibacterial and detoxification properties due to allicin, red wine is rich in antioxidants that maintain a healthy heart and prevent premature aging. Red wine has long been touted as a health drink. The tannins and other active compounds like reservetrol help to promote heart health through lowering both cholesterol and high blood pressure levels. It also is rich in antioxidants which seem to be able to prevent or treat oxidative damage done to the cells and slow or even reverse the effects of aging on the body.

Every 100 grams of garlic will serve you with close to 150 calories, 33 grams of carbs, 6.36 grams of protein. Garlic is also enriched with Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6, folate, Vitamin C, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous, potassium, sodium and zinc.

This natural remedy combines the properties of red wine and garlic in order to make a drink with powerful effects. This recipe can significantly improve our health and prevent a large number of diseases. This garlic drink strengthens the immune system, has strong anti-inflammatory properties, purifies the blood and blood vessels, takes care of your heart health, prevents a number of heart diseases, eliminate the salt disposals out of your body and fight various bacteria, viruses and infections.
