Garlic is a vegetable and is a species of the onion genus. Garlic is often used to add flavor to recipes and dishes. Garlic is an essential ingredient of most cuisine from all across the world. Taste is the first reason why it is so popular. However, garlic can also be used as a medicine to prevent or treat a wide range of aliments and diseases.

Garlic cloves contain many vital nutrients including vitamins, amino acids, and enzymes. Garlic contains sulfur compounds from the amino acid allicin, which is most noted for producing garlic’s powerful odor.

Garlic acts as a natural antibiotic. It is able to eliminate harmful bacteria but does not kill off healthy bacteria as chemical antibiotics do. Garlic’s allicin is also responsible for destroying fungi. Many use garlic as a means of eliminating fungal infections.  A study found that garlic is effective at preventing and treating the common cold. It found that those who consumed garlic had significantly fewer colds and the length of their cold was shortened compared to those who did not eat garlic.

Honey, particularly in its raw form, also offers an extensive range of surprising benefits. This sweet nectar has long-been valued as a natural sweetener, long before sugar became widely available in the 16th century.

Today, while the average American consumes only one pound of honey each year, they consume more than 150 pounds of refined sugar on top of another 62 pounds of high fructose corn syrup per year. But research shows that decreasing or eliminating refined sugars, and using a moderate amount of pure raw honey instead can offer incredible benefits to our health and general well-being – not to mention the beauty benefits it can provide too.

  • Honey gives you energy
  • Honey boosts your memory
  • Honey assists in weight loss
  • Honey increases athletic performance
  • Honey strengthens your immune system

Garlic and honey home remedy can be prepared this way:

Ingredients:

  • 3 heads of garlic, peeled and separated into cloves (about 24 cloves)

  • raw honey to fill your glass jar of choice (raw honey is more nutritious than store-bought honey)

Finley chop the garlic and mix it with the honey. You must consume this medicine on an empty stomach every morning.

You can also try the garlic fly tonic. What you will need is:

  • Half a yellow onion, roughly chopped
  • 5 cloves of garlic, roughly chopped
  • 2 red chili peppers, roughly chopped
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of ginger, roughly chopped
  • Juice of one lemon
  • Apple cider vinegar, organic, unfiltered and raw

Put the chopped onion in the bottom of a 500 ml Mason jar. Add the garlic as a second layer and the red chili peppers as third. Then carefully layer some chopped ginger. Store the jar in a dark and cool place and consume frequently or until all the symptoms you have disappear.

No one wakes up feeling amazing. Mornings are characterized by sluggishness and fatigue. If you’re unlucky, the condition might persist throughout the day. Some people turn to energy drinks or non-natural remedies and end up feeling worse than they did originally.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar  has a long list of uses, especially for those who prefer to use natural remedies. Not all apple cider vinegar is created equal, so make sure you buy the organic, raw, unfiltered kind. The nutritional benefits haven’t been filtered out, so the unfiltered particles will provide your body with the most benefits. Apple cider vinegar contains bacteria known as acetobacter. This is a “friendly” bacteria that breaks down food in the gut.

The antibiotic properties of apple cider vinegar can help improve the acid content in the stomach, reducing heartburn and acid reflux. There are several antioxidants in apple cider vinegar that work to keep the body healthy, including catechin, gallic acid, caffeic and chlorogenic acids. The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar can even increase the body’s absorption of important minerals from the food you eat to ensure that you’re getting the most out of your leafy greens!

Honey

Honey’s use as a soothing agent goes back a long way in human history. The ancient Egyptians used it to dress wounds—it contains agents that help fight off infections. It’s also used as a contemporary at-home cure for sore throats. However, there are additional, less-known health benefits attributable to honey.

Honey contains natural carbohydrates and sugars that can be absorbed quickly by the body. Drinking it first thing in the morning gives you the boost you need to start the day off right. Honey also supports the immune system. Its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties inhibit the development of viruses and bacteria. When you’re buying honey, go for the organic honey.

The combination of acv and honey is perfect in the fight and prevention of infections thanks to its active compounds. In the same time it is great for the overall health and wellbeing of your organism because it kills bacteria which cause inflammations, infections and various diseases and many more benefits.

  • Eliminates pain in the joints so it is perfect for people with arthritis.
  • Eliminates acid and heartburn
  • Helps with digestion and constipation
  • Reduces cholesterol in the blood thus decreases blood pressure
  • Helps in the fight with extra weight
  • Great medicine for sore throat
  • Energy booster
  • Gives glow to the skin making it better and healthier

  1. Mix apple cider vinegar (half to 1 tablespoon) and raw honey (half to 1 tablespoon)

  2. Dissolve in a glass of water (10-20oz).

  3. Take it once or twice daily.

You may find the taste quite strong and difficult to consume, but once you become aware of its benefits, this will sure become your everyday routine.

Warning: High amounts of apple cider vinegar may may interfere with diuretics, laxatives and medicine for diabetes and heart diseases. Talk to your doctor before consuming ACV daily.

Coffee is more than caffeine in a cup. It also has potential health benefits too. The consumption of coffee goes back centuries. In 17th century England the popularity of the drink gave rise to a number of coffee houses which were dubbed ‘penny universities’, because with one penny a person could buy a cup of coffee and have intellectually stimulating conversations with other people

Although coffee is famously known for its caffeine, she has a much more impressive side. It’s one of the riches sources of Chlorogenic acid (part of the phenolic acid family/antioxidants) which reduces oxidative stress and inflammation. Coffee also appears to increase insulin sensitivity which means a lowered risk for type 2 diabetes. This is also suspected to be due to Chlorogenic acid.

A recent study has found caffeine has the same effect on the body’s cells as muscle contractions caused through exercise. And though they don’t recommend anyone opt for coffee over fitness, they are currently looking at more ways caffeine positively influences DNA. As an added bonus, caffeine has been shown to reduce pain during exercise which may help you get through that last set of lunges.

Many of us love coffee because it has the ability to keeps us on our game, but studies show that caffeine has a positive effect on memory and thought processes, too. In fact, a study that looked at mice with the equivalent of Alzheimer’s disease (who consumed caffeine-laced water) experienced a decrease in the levels of a protein in the brain that is associated with the disease.

Mix these 3 ingredients into your coffee and burn more fat:

Coconut oil

Coconut oil contains saturated fat. The fats in coconut oil are mostly medium chain triglycerides (MCTs). Here’s what you need to know.

They don’t require bile to be broken down because they’re shorter than other fats and they’re transported directly to the bloodstream through your portal vein. All this means is that you can quickly get energy from medium chain triglycerides and your body won’t add them to your love handles (unless you’re consuming an overabundance of calories).

Honey

Honey technically has more calories than sugar. A teaspoon of honey has about 21 calories, while one of white sugar contains around 16 calories. The sugars in honey taste sweeter than those in white sugar, so you may use less honey than sugar when sweetening your coffee.

Because the sugars in honey are processed faster, they’re less likely to be converted into fats and stored in your body.

The sugars in honey have a lower glycemic index than those in white sugar, which means honey will have less of an effect on blood-glucose levels.

Cinnamon

One study found just half a teaspoon of cinnamon per day can significantly reduce blood sugar levels, triglycerides, LDL cholesterol, and total cholesterol levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Cinnamon can slow the speed at which the stomach empties following a meal, which can help control sharp rises and falls in blood sugar levels. Softening these sugar spikes can theoretically reduce cravings.

Excess sugar in the blood is normally converted to fat, adding to the existing fat stores. Cinnamon increases the metabolism, which means one would utilize more sugar, leaving little for storage.

Proper liver function is absolutely essential for a healthy body and improved digestion. The liver processes the blood from the digestive tract, removing toxins and other impurities before the blood cycles out to the rest of the body. The liver also produces bile, which is stored in the gallbladder (which rests under the liver) and is essential for fat digestion. The two organs are jointly responsible for a well-balanced healthy body. Liver problems can lead to a variety of unpleasant symptoms. You may start to notice one or more of the symptoms below if your liver becomes toxic, fibrous, fatty, or scarred. Symptoms of an unhealthy liver include:

  • Running out of energy in the afternoon
  • Inability to lose weight
  • Mood swings
  • Bursts of anger, mood disorders, or anxiety
  • Bloating and gas
  • Occasional headaches
  • Brain Fog and lack of mental clarity
  • Muscle aches and stiffness
  • Bad breath or body odor
  • Brown spots on your skin or age spots
  • Bruising easily
  • Jaundice, or skin and eyes that take on a yellow color
  • Dark urine
  • Pale-colored stool or bloody/tar-colored stool
  • Constantly itchy skin
  • Abdominal pain and swelling
  • Poor digestion
  • Nausea
  • Chronic fatigue

Another common problem is fatty liver disease, which often develops from the overindulgence or long-term use of alcohol. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease also exists, and can be brought on by certain medications, malnutrition, or other causes. One concern with fatty liver disease is that vague symptoms (generalized fatigue, weakness, nausea, confusion, impaired judgment, and loss of appetite) can build up for years before liver damage is implicated as the cause.

“Detoxification” is more accurately defined as the mobilization and elimination of waste, toxins, pathogens, and other unwanted debris from your body.

Health Benefits Of Turmeric

Turmeric is not only what makes mustard and curries yellow, but it’s an incredibly powerful nutritional supplement.

The Indian spice has chemical compounds called curcuminoids, of which curcumin is the most beneficial. Curcumin is an anti-inflammatory agent (helpful for arthritis among many other conditions) and an antioxidant. It also helps the body to absorb other antioxidants.

Curcumin has also been linked to delaying or reversing brain diseases in rats and improves the ability of the lining of the blood vessels to function properly or endothelial function, therefore, it’s been thought to reverse cardiovascular disease.

Here is a simple recipe on how to make this easy detox drink:

Ingredients

  • 1/2 of a lemon
  • 1/4 – 1/2 tsp of turmeric
  • warm water
  • a dab of honey (optional)

Instructions

  • Squeeze 1/2 of a lemon into a mug.
  • Add the turmeric.
  • Add warm water.
  • Stir well.
  • Add honey to taste, if desired.

Keep spoon in the cup as turmeric will fall to the bottom so the drink will need to be mixed again.

So go ahead and make this easy drink at home and enjoy all of its benefits to your health.

The common cold is easily passed around and you can experience coughing, sinus congestion, aches, or you can even develop bronchitis. While you can help remedy your cough with herbal teas like lemon, ginger, chamomile, or Echinacea, there is one natural mixture you need in your life.

When you cough, your body is naturally trying to clear up your respiratory system. Coughing indicates that there is something wrong inside your airways. For instance, the airways can become inflamed and lead to long lasting respiratory issues that damage lung tissue. Most people resort to cold and flu medications when they or their children have a cough or cold, but these medications can actually have negative effects on organs.

Coughs are reaction of the body when it is trying to clean up the central highway of the respiratory system. Coughing is sign that there is something wrong inside your body, and at most patients it occurs as a result of common cold, flu or bronchitis.Bronchitis is medical condition that occurs when the airways become clogged and when an inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes.

Here is a simple recipe to prepare this mixture and get rid of your cough and bronchitis:

You will need two ripe bananas, 2 tablespoons honey and 400 ml of boiling water.

First peel the bananas and put them in a pot. Mash the bananas with a fork or a spoon and once you have done that put the boiling water in. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes. Once it has cooled down put two tablespoons of honey in. It is very important to put the honey in once the mixture is cold so that honey doesn’t lose any of its heat sensitive antioxidants. Place this mixture in a sealed container and use 100 ml 4 times a day. Use the remedy 5 days in a row, making a new batch every day.

HONEY PROPERTIES

Honey as expectorant is used in home remedies since ancient times. It is proved that it has strong bactericidal qualities and rich in organic acids which prevent growth of bacteria. It is used in different ways as medication. Most common way is consumption of the honey, sometimes it is used for preparation of syrups and also often is used for making inhalation.

BANANA PROPERTIES

Treatment of non-productive cough which is caused by an inflammatory disease is based on the goal of turning it into a productive (wet) cough. For this purpose are used all types of expectorants. Better for health and body are natural kinds. Dry cough can be cured with the help of such natural expectorant as bananas. They expand the bronchi, activate the respiratory system and liquefy viscous mucus in such a way speeding up recovery.

The remedy from bananas is not only effective and organic but also very tasty.

Appreciate nature more and always turn to it for more beneficial remedies! As always if you have serious symptoms of cough and bronchitis please consult your doctor.

If you’re not taking full advantage of the nutritional and medicinal properties of honey, it’s time to begin doing so because honey is a remarkable healing agent for all sorts of ailments. People have been using honey for its antibacterial and antifungal properties since the ancient times. In fact, the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians documented the healing properties of honey as early as Aristotle’s mention of it in 384 BC. At its basic state, one tablespoon of honey is about 64 calories and has no fat or cholesterol.

Antioxidants are responsible for many cinnamon health benefits. Cinnamon has more antioxidants than many so-called antioxidant foods, ounce-for-ounce. One teaspoon of cinnamon has as much antioxidant capacity as a full cup of pomegranate juice or a half-cup of blueberries.

Beyond antioxidants, cinnamon is also rich in natural compounds called polyphenols. These compounds appear to mimic the action of insulin in your body and may help regulate blood sugar levels. That makes cinnamon an important food for people with diabetes. The combination of honey and cinnamon has been used for centuries in both traditional Chinese and Ayurveda, a system of healing founded 5000 years ago in India. The two ingredients with unique healing abilities have a long history as a home remedy. Honey and cinnamon, which is one of the best-known mixtures, has been reported to be a natural cure for many diseases and a formula for many health benefits:

Weight loss

One of the first benefits we can highlight is how effective honey and cinnamon is for weight loss. Cinnamon provides a powerful insulin-boosting compound called polyphenol type A, which benefits obese people, pre-diabetics, and diabetics.

Reduces the risk of heart disease

One of the best honey and cinnamon cures is good heart care. Honey contains various polyphenols, like quercetin, galangin, and acacetin, that were found beneficial in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, put it on toast – instead of jelly and jam – and eat it regularly for breakfast.  It reduces the cholesterol and could potentially save one from a heart attack.   Also, even if you have already had a heart attack, studies show you could be kept miles away from the next attack.  Regular use of cinnamon and honey strengthens the heart beat.  In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as one ages the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon will revitalize the arteries and the veins.

Colds

Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days. This process will cure most chronic coughs, colds, and clear the sinuses, and it’s delicious too!

Upset stomach

Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also is said to clear stomach ulcers from its root.

Arthritis

Both honey and cinnamon provide relief from arthritis and has been proven through research. Cinnamon and honey provide strong anti-inflammatory compounds with antioxidants.

Hair loss

This combination of honey and cinnamon has long been used for those who suffer from hair loss or balding. Studies have shown this combination to be effective even if only left on for a mere 5 minutes.

With one delicious super food, you can simultaneously prevent topical infection, enhance athletic performance, soothe a troubled digestive system and relieve a sore throat. Sweet and powerful, the unprocessed, organic form of honey is an adequate source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and may help treat several health concerns. Unprocessed honey contains hydrogen peroxide as well as phenol acids, which help remove various bacteria from a topical injury. Raw honey’s antimicrobial agents make it an ideal natural infection-fighter and rapid healer. Honey is also a potent antioxidant, fighting the buildup of low-density lipoprotein, or “bad” cholesterol, in the arteries and harmful free radicals. Free radicals are responsible for premature aging, cancer and tissue damage. Honey is rich with bifid bacteria, a group of bacteria associated with digestive and immune health. An effective probiotic, raw honey stimulates bifid bacteria growth in the intestine.

Cinnamon has long been used in traditional Asian medicine and is most often combined with other herbs. It has been used for joint pain, heart palpitations, and dysmenorrhea. Ancient Egyptians used cinnamon as an embalming agent; it was brought to Europe from Asia as a cooking spice and medicine. European herbalists prescribed it for dyspepsia, mild spasms, indigestion, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and uterine hemorrhaging.

Taken separately, each of them is an incredible food and medicine. Combined, their effects double. Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant properties and it proved itself to be hugely useful for everything, from Type 2 Diabetes to sore throats and weigh control. Honey has antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
Remember to take the real cinnamon, you wouldn’t want to heal something and destroy something else.
